Artwork #
The Artwork tool allows customers to browse and insert pre-designed graphics into their designs. Artwork is typically used for logos, icons, illustrations, decorative elements, symbols, badges, and other reusable design assets.
Unlike uploaded photos, artwork is managed by the store administrator and can include both vector (SVG) and raster (PNG) graphics. Depending on the artwork type, customers may also be able to change colors before placing an order.
This guide explains how to configure the Artwork library, organize artwork categories, and control the editing options available in the Design Studio.

Artwork Types #
Product Designer App supports multiple artwork formats.
SVG Artwork (Recommended) #
SVG artwork is fully scalable without losing quality.
Benefits include:
- Infinite scaling
- Smaller file sizes
- High-quality printing
- Editable colors
- Crisp edges
SVG is recommended for:

Typical uses include:
- Decorative graphics
- Textures
- Watercolor effects

Unlike SVG artwork, PNG graphics cannot have individual element colors edited.
Change Artwork Colors #
One of the biggest advantages of SVG artwork is the ability to change colors directly inside the Design Studio.
Customers can:

- Change individual SVG element colors (when supported)
- Match artwork with product colors
- Apply brand colors
Color changes are displayed instantly in the preview.
This feature is especially useful for:
- Team uniforms
- Company branding
- Personalized gifts
- Promotional products
Add Artwork to the Design #
Customers simply click an artwork item from the library.
The artwork is automatically inserted into the active Design Area.
Once added, it can be positioned, resized, and customized like any other design element.

Resize Artwork #
Artwork can be resized directly on the canvas.
Customers can:
- Scale proportionally
- Enlarge without quality loss (SVG)
- Reduce size
- Fit artwork inside the printable area
SVG artwork maintains sharp edges regardless of size.
Move and Rotate #
Artwork can be:
- Dragged anywhere within the Design Area

- Aligned
- Centered
These controls allow customers to build balanced and professional layouts.
Artwork Options #

- Resize
- Flip Horizontal
- Flip Vertical
- Opacity

Available options depend on the artwork format and enabled Design Studio features.

Customers can:
- Bring Forward
- Send Backward
- Duplicate
- Lock
- Delete
Artwork can also be combined with:
- Text
- Photos
- QR Codes

This allows customers to create complex multi-layer designs.
Search Artwork #
For large libraries, customers can use the search feature to quickly locate graphics.
Searching by keywords reduces browsing time and improves usability.
Use clear artwork names and categories to help customers find graphics easily.
Artwork and Pricing #
If your Printing Type includes artwork-based pricing rules, Product Designer App automatically calculates pricing when artwork is added.
Examples include:
- Pricing by number of design elements
- Pricing by printed colors
- Pricing by printed area
- Pricing by printable side
Pricing updates automatically as customers modify their designs.
Best Practices for Artwork #
To provide the best experience:
- Use SVG artwork whenever possible.
- Keep artwork clean and well organized.
- Group graphics into logical categories.
- Use meaningful names and keywords.
- Optimize SVG files before uploading.
- Remove unnecessary vector paths.
- Test color editing before publishing.
- Verify exported PNG, PDF, and SVG files.
Well-prepared artwork improves both editor performance and print quality.
Troubleshooting #
Artwork Library is empty #
Verify that:
- Artwork has been uploaded.
- Categories are published.
- The Artwork tool is enabled.
- The library is assigned correctly.
Artwork colors cannot be changed #
Possible causes include:
- The artwork is a PNG image.
- The SVG was not created with editable elements.
- Color editing is disabled for that artwork.
Use SVG artwork with editable vector elements for the best color customization experience.
Artwork looks blurry #
Blurry graphics usually indicate that a raster image has been enlarged beyond its original resolution.
Whenever possible, replace PNG artwork with SVG to maintain sharp quality at any size.
Search does not find artwork #
Check that artwork titles and categories have been configured with descriptive names and relevant keywords.
Best Practices #
For the best customer experience:
- Use SVG artwork whenever possible.
- Organize artwork into clear categories.
- Enable color editing for compatible SVG graphics.
- Keep artwork optimized for fast loading.
- Avoid oversized PNG files.
- Test artwork on desktop and mobile devices.
- Verify exported print files before production.
The Artwork tool enables customers to create professional-quality designs using reusable graphics while giving store owners complete control over the available artwork library, editing options, and color customization features.
